Architecture: Reference and Specification

Materials, Structures, and Standards (Rockport Publishers, 2006) addresses issues of clarity and communication within the profession and beyond. As a 272-page handbook of a range of information to which architects and students of architecture need quick access, the book is purposely not an in-depth elaboration on any one topic, but provides a distilled collection of easy-to-access information presented with clear graphics and text - for the express purpose of giving designers useful information that frees them up for more intense issues of design. To date, the book has been translated into multiple languages, and over 50,000 copies have been sold in the US. A second and third edition (under the title Architecture: Reference and Specification) have been published in 2013 and 2018.
