Taubman College Professor of urban planning, Dr. Martin Murray, participated in a workshop “Dialogue on Urban Perspectives: Mid-Sized Cities in Sub-Saharan Africa: Social, Cultural, Economic and Ecological Challenges and Opportunities.” The workshop was held on Sept. 28 at the Institute of Geography of the University of Erlangen in Germany. “Urban Perspectives,” launched by the foundation Siemens Stiftung, focused on challenges and opportunities of social development in so-called mid-sized cities in Sub-Saharan Africa. Twenty experts participated in the workshop, discussing issues revolving around livelihoods and social transition, creativity and innovation and policies and governance.
