Taubman College Associate Professor of Urban Planning and the Coordinator of Doctoral Studies for Taubman College of Architecture & Urban Planning Scott Campbell co-edited the third edition of Readings in Urban Theory, a fully comprehensive book of carefully selected readings on the study and practice of urban theory, along with Susan S. Fainstein, a professor in the Urban Planning Program at the Harvard University Graduate School of Design.
This third edition has been updated from its first two editions (1e, 1996; 2e, 2002) with a majority of new readings. Fainstein and Campbell’s latest Readings in Urban Theory, published March 2011 by Wiley-Blackwell, expands its focus to present the most recent developments in urban and regional theories and policies in a globalized world. The readings are unified by an orientation toward political economy and normative themes of social justice; they expand the focus on international planning, including globalization and theories of development; and they address the full range of core urban theory so as to remain the primary text for university courses.
