Taubman College Architecture Lecturer Craig Wilkins and Clipson Visiting Faculty member Sir David Adjaye OBE will participate in a panel hosted by the Smithsonian National Museum of African American History and Culture. The symposium, Shifting the Landscape: Black Architects and Planners, 1968 to Now, will take place September 27-29, 2018, in Washington, D.C.. Panelists will speak about the activism, engagement, and impact of black architects and planners over the past fifty years.
The event will bring together architects, planners, and scholars of the built environment to reflect on key events in the late 1960s that shaped architecture and planning in the decades that followed. The symposium will also bring greater visibility to today’s black architects by highlighting projects of currently active architects and planners to create more equitable spaces. The event will also connect architecture professionals with scholars to make career opportunities more attractive for future practitioners.
