Associate Professor Joe Grengs of Taubman College and Assistant Professor Kate Lowe of the University of Illinois at Chicago have published the article “Private Donations for Public Transit: The Equity Implications of Detroit’s Public–Private Streetcar” in the peer-reviewed Journal of Planning Education and Research. Their research analyzes broad regional and equity impacts of private funding by examining Detroit’s donation-funded streetcar and the effect on attitudes toward regional transit. The article was published online on March 13, 2018.
