Taubman College Dewar Quoted in Detroit News on Tax Debt in Detroit
Professor Margi Dewar was consulted on a story, “Foreclosures down, but debt could spell future crisis,” in the September 8, 2016 issue of the Detroit News. The story, written by Christine MacDonald, explores the punishing debt incurred by some Detroit homeowners whose tax bills exceed the value of their homes. Professor Dewar commented on the unsustainability of current plans that try to keep homeowners out of foreclosure by lowering their tax debts.
