Larsen to Present at Insitu Fast Forward

Larsen to Present at Insitu Fast Forward

Associate Professor of Urban Planning Larissa Larsen will be providing expertise as one of the highlighted speakers at Insitu’s Fast Forward event on December 10, 2015. In exploring the projects of highlighted speakers and student presenters, the fast-paced event looks to provide exposure to socially engaged initiatives and act as a social event where collaborative relationships might develop.

Larsen’s presentation, “Urban Planning Opportunities for Social Engagement,” will focus on the balance between the private and public spheres in urban planning. Larsen will explore meaningful social engagement and public participation as a way to strike this balance, highlighting strategies to gather local knowledge to improve planning and design efforts.

Insitu is a new center for socially engaged design, located at the University of Michigan, whose vision is to empower students and practitioners with the tools to maximize design adoption and sustainment. Fast Forward will feature six highlighted speakers from various colleges and schools on campus, with Larsen representing Taubman College.
