Goodspeed Publishes Field Study on Planning Support Systems

Assistant Professor Robert Goodspeed published an article titled “Sketching and learning: A planning support system field study” in the journal Environment and Planning B: Planning and Design. Goodspeed’s field study addresses the necessity of planning support systems in improving planning processes.

The field study evaluates the performance of a planning support systems used for sketch planning as part of a land use planning project in metropolitan Austin, Texas. The study used learning and dialog quality as the planning support systems performance measures. Goodspeed’s work contributes to a wider effort to develop and implement robust measures of planning support systems performance and links concept of planning support systems performance to broader theories of learning.

Environment and Planning B: Planning and Design is a journal devoted to the field of urban planning and design.
