2015 Capstone Student Team receives Michigan Association of Planning Outstanding Student Project Award

The Michigan Association of Planning (MAP) sent a formal notice that one of our capstone projects, “Forging a Future: Strengthening Detroit’s Mt. Elliott Employment District,” will be receiving MAP’s 2015 Outstanding Student Project Award at its upcoming conference. This project was conducted during the Winter 2014 term by students (now graduates) Aly Andrews, Aja Bonner, James Carpenter, Cassie DeWitt, Colin Dillon, Myles Hamby, Dustin Hodge, Evan Johnson, Kevin Shelton, Brian Smyser, Allison Sponseller, Liz Truetel, and Cheng Wang, under the direction of June Manning Thomas and Eric Dueweke.

The review panel (a jury from the Florida Chapter of the American Planning Association) stated, in part, “This plan provides an incredibly detailed, researched, and thoughtful analysis which highlighted the best skills emerging professionals should exhibit.”

Congratulations to the faculty and students involved in this project!
