Taubman College Taubman faculty projects receive planning grants from the Graham Environmental Sustainability Institute
As part of its Integrated Assessment (IA) Program, the Graham Institute for Environmental Sustainability announced five planning grants set to take place during the next six months. Each of the five projects received $20,000 to help determine the feasibility of conducting a comprehensive assessment of key interventions that promote livable communities and sustainable transportation.
Associate Professor Larissa Larsen and Joe Grengs will be the principal investigators on an integrated assessment project to provide healthy food and transportation access for lower income populations in Eastern Washtenaw County. Additionally, the Chair of Urban and Regional Planning, Dick Norton, will be conducting a project on realigning public services for sustainability and social equity in Kalamazoo County.
Total, the five projects involve 13 UM faculty from six academic units and nine different communities. Teams that meet planning grant objectives will be invited to submit full IA proposals to be considered for additional funding over a 15-month period.
