Under Consideration Session VIII: Identity and the Built Environment

We will be joined by Dr. Brandi Summers, Assistant Professor of Geography and Global Metropolitan Studies at the University of California, Berkeley and author of Black in Place: The Spatial Aesthetics of Race in a Post- Chocolate City, and Rajan Hoyle, Urbanist, Geographer and Multimedia Storyteller, along with an intimate cohort of faculty and students from our partner schools in the Equity in Architectural Education Consortium (EAEC) . The EAEC was founded in 2018 by the architecture colleges and programs at Florida Agricultural & Mechanical University, Florida International University, Hampton University, Howard University, Morgan State University, Tuskegee University, University of Oklahoma, and University of Michigan. 

The session will be held synchronously over Zoom. The two invited speakers will present for 10 minutes each, followed by a 60 minute guided discussion and Q + A among all participants.
