About the 2020 Graduate Architecture Thesis Studios: During this past year, students have been critically engaging the ever-changing cultural landscape that shapes our discipline. Compared to previous cohorts, this group of students is experiencing and confronting global challenges that outpace and exceed the scope of research proposed in the fall. This context makes the discursive space and experimental spirit unique to thesis more relevant and urgent than ever. Now, as we celebrate this graduating class and the culmination of their time at the college, we hope this group of urban activists, spatial practitioners, and visual instigators will share their insights and newfound curiosities through future work. There are nine thesis groups whose topics, methods, and sites range broadly. The 91 projects featured here are the result of a thesis development seminar in the Fall 2019 term and a studio in the Winter 2020 term. For the first time, the final reviews took place online.
