Masters Students Receive Honorable Mention in ULI Hines Competition

A team of students from the Master in Architecture, Master in Urban Planning and Master in Liberal Arts programs from the University of Michigan recently won an honorable mention for the 2016 Urban Land Institute Hines Competition.

The competition challenged teams to design and submit a master-plan proposal that included drawings, site plans, and financial data for an area in Atlanta’s midtown. It was designed to make urban planning more tangible within a hypothetical development scenario. Teams worked together to transform that Atlanta area into a thriving, sustainable, mixed-use, walkable, and transit-accessible neighborhood. Although hypothetical, the competition still reflected many real-life situations in the area.

Students on the team included Jamilla Afandi (M. Arch / MUP), Lindsey Von Seggern (M. Arch) , Anthony Gonzalez (M. Arch) , Yiqin (Terrance) Wang (MLA) , and Nick Fazio (MUP alumnus).
